The elements of the service which we are delivering include the Carers News publication, a Continuing Support Service for carers and we are responsible for  the overall monitoring of the entire county wide service.

Carers News

A 20 page A5 publication in full colour containing a balanced blend of news, information and articles of interest. They are produced in conjunction with Discover magazine in the months of March, July and November.

5,000 copies are distributed across the county to all the county’s GP surgeries, NHS dental practices, community hospitals, Cornwall Council’s One Stop Shops and Social Care offices, as well as to the identified carers on the local register and to some key voluntary sector organisations.

We are always keen to receive articles, stories, poems or photos or to hear from carers who want to become involved in shaping future publications, to ensure Carers News becomes the user-led publication we always envisaged it would be.

Carers Continuing Support Service

This service is to provide on-going support for carers to ensure their journey through the Cornwall Carers Service is holistic. Carers will be referred to us if at such times they no longer have caring responsibilities and require assistance to adjust to their new circumstances.

We will provide a listening ear and practical assistance with housing, equipment, training, education and welfare benefits. We can also provide information in relation to accessing leisure activities and social opportunities to assist full re-engagement within the person’s respective local community.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Disability Cornwall is responsible for carrying out the monitoring within the Cornwall Carers Service, both internally and externally. Our aim is to ensure the voice of the carer is used to help shape and improve the services delivered to you, enabling you to access the support needed to assist you in your caring role.

Cornwall Carers Service is funded by Cornwall Council and Cornwall & Isles of Scilly NHS. It is delivered by Cornwall Rural Community Council, Age UK Cornwall, Carers Rights and Disability Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. This is a survey for carers in Cornwall. It is important that we receive your feedback as it will enable us to shape and improve our services to support you as best we can in your caring role.

We would therefore very much appreciate it if you could spare 10-15 minutes in completing this survey. There are 8 pages in total, one page on each of the services provided, feel free to skip any pages if you have not used that particular service. All questions require simple tick box answers but please do give us more information in the boxes provided should you wish.

'If it’s in Carers News it makes you confident it must be right.'

'I would like more copies to share around and to take to my GP surgery and so on.'

'Reading about other carers is good thing as it helps to prevent isolation and allows readers to identify with others in similar situations.'
